The older of the school’s two science blocks has reopened to students following a six month refurbishment. Extensive works have been undertaken to provide a much improved learning environment.

Old classrooms and prep rooms were stripped out and new heating, lighting and electrics were installed before new furniture was delivered. Work has also been undertaken to improve the prep room, store rooms and the teachers’ work area. Other work includes a new fire alarm panel and sensors and a new boiler.

School Business Manager Mrs Childs said: “We’ve made extensive changes to the school’s older science block. Science, IT and Site staff have been working alongside contractors since May to ensure that we created the best possible learning environment for our students.”

Head of the Science faculty Miss North said: “The refurbished science block has been designed to extend the science offer at Carr Hill. New facilities mean our students can enjoy more practical lessons in lighter and brighter classrooms. Our students are incredibly lucky to have access to these new classrooms and many have already told us how different lessons feel. It isn’t often you have access to brand new facilities and we hope our current students will appreciate these classrooms now so that future students can enjoy them for years to come.”
