Carr Hill students will once again have the opportunity to work towards the three levels of the DofE Award.

 

Students are invited to take part in the world’s leading youth achievement award which helps to develop young people for life and work. In order to complete the award stages students are required to take part in a volunteering section, for three months, a skills section, for three months, and a two day and one night expedition.Last year students volunteered at a nursing home, the RNLI and a kennels and completed their skills section by learning boxing and baking and training as a lifeguard, amongst many other things.

 

Year 9 students are invited to attend an introductory meeting about the award scheme on Friday 30th November in Room 23 at 1.30pm. Mrs Beckett, who is one of the staff involved in organising the DofE Award opportunities at Carr Hill, will also be holding a follow up assembly . Students who are interested in talking part will have the Christmas break to think about what they plan to do for their volunteering and skills sections before signing up in January.

 

Mrs Beckett said: “Taking part in the  DofE Award is a chance to learn new skills, give back to the community and challenge yourself. In addition to this it looks great to employers and further education providers so will help you stand out from others.”
