Carr Hill Sixth Form students received their exam results today and celebrated being accepted on to a range of university courses, apprenticeships and prestigious training programmes.

Year 13 Beth leaves Carr Hill with A (Psychology), A (Biology), B (Chemistry), B (Maths) and will begin studying medicine at the University of Liverpool shortly. Beth said: “I have wanted to have a career in medicine since I was in Year 9 and I’ve been volunteering at Blackpool Victoria Hospital as a ward helper for some time. I was relieved to get the grades I needed. I got no sleep last night and checked to see if I had been accepted on to the course as early as I could this morning.  My dream is to work as a trauma surgeon for the army and now I’m one step closer to achieving that.”

Follow student Soravi is going to study aerospace engineering at the University of Sheffield in September having achieved A (Maths), A (Further Maths), B (Physics), B (Chemistry). Soravi said: “I’m pleased with my grades. I did a lot of revision but the exams were hard so I was surprised I got the results I did particularly in Chemistry and Further Maths. My dad works as an engineer so it is a career that has always interested me. I’m looking forward to starting my course.”

Whilst Beth and Soravi head to their first choice universities, former Head Boy Ben will soon begin training at the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, where all officers in the British Army are trained to take on the responsibility of leading their fellow soldiers. Both Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, and Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex, completed their training at the prestigious academy.

Headteacher Mr Waller said: “The grades our sixth form students achieved this year are superb and as a result these young people have been accepted on to some of the most competitive courses and training programmes in the UK. In addition to the achievements of Beth, Soravi and Ben, we also have students going on to study courses in social work, nursing and business management to name but a few. These students have bright futures ahead of them and I wish them all the best.”
