Carr Hill High School has achieved a Gold level from the School Games Mark due to the commitment the school has shown to the development of competition within the Carr Hill and wider community.
Carr Hill applied for the gold level earlier this year and had to meet the following criteria; Participation (the number of young people at school who are being engaged in sporting activity), Competition (how many different sports are being played and how many competitions are being entered), Workforce (how many pupils are involved in leadership activities alongside taking part in competitions) and Clubs (how many local links does the school have with clubs/establishments in the area). Carr Hill will receive a plaque to display in school later this year.
The School Games Mark is a government led awards scheme launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community. Participating in this process allows schools to evaluate their PE provision and assists them in developing an action plan for future progress.
PE Teacher Mr Doughty said: “The PE department is delighted to have received the Gold level School Games Mark. This is something we have been working towards this year and we are pleased that the efforts of staff and students both in and outside of the school gates has been recognised.”
