The lessons have included things such as working on stage combat and the students are now using these techniques in their final performances. Pupils are using Shakespeare’s original language which is adding a further challenge to the lessons, and something the students are enjoying.  

 

The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark dramatises the revenge Prince Hamlet is called to wreak upon his uncle, Claudius, by the ghost of Hamlet's father, King Hamlet. Claudius had murdered his own brother and seized the throne, also marrying his deceased brother's widow.

 

Drama Teacher Miss Sheffield said: “The Year 8’s have thrown themselves in to Hamlet and there are some fantastic re-enactments taking place in lessons. It is a challenging play and pupils have used their creativity and acting abilities to put their own twist on this classic theatrical production.”
