Year 13 student Eliza gave Carr Hill a virtual make over with a nod to Banksy as part of her ‘A’ Level Art course.

The project involved turning her portraiture work into street art and computer generating it onto external walls around school.

Faculty Leader for Art, Mrs Wild said, “Eliza has produced some incredible work over her two years in sixth form and we had a lot of fun experimenting with this as part of her exam project.  I have been consistently impressed with her perception and attention to detail and it has been really interesting seeing her develop her ideas”.

Eliza said, “I had the idea of creating computer generated images of my work on walls after seeing the street Art and graffiti on the walls in Blackpool. I had looked at the work of prominent street Artists like David Walker and Banksy. I then combined this with pieces of portraiture that I had carried out in preparation for my exam. I was focusing on Light and Dark – which is why the portraits have such heavy shadows and contrast. After seeing the work in Blackpool I wanted to inject more colour into my work.  My intention was to make the monochrome portraits ‘pop’ out from the colourful and bold backgrounds.  I am really pleased with the way they have turned out, although whether I can convince Mr Waller to let me loose on the real walls remains to be seen!”
