Ten of Carr Hill's RS Ambassadors presented the Easter story to Year 5 pupils from Ribby with Wrea Church of England and Endowed Primary School. The students, who were accompanied by Mr Churm, led a session about Jesus' trial as part of the primary school's Easter Experience week.  Here they share their experience:

The day began with a short taxi ride to the primary school.  Upon arriving we were greeted with a warm smile and began to set up the presentation.  The children arrived and once they had settled the presentation began as they were creatively organised into eight teams, each named after a disciple.

Firstly, we introduced ourselves by saying our names, what year we are in, why we like RS and what our favourite flavour of ice-cream. After we had introduced ourselves, the activities began with a performance delivered by some of the ambassadors on Jesus' arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane. This was a good way to introduce the key characters and show what their true characters. Once that had finished Mr Churm helped them understand what we had been acted.

This was the first of a five part dramatization of the trial. The play was very effective as the children seemed to learn a lot from it because it is more fun to see something happening rather than reading about it.  After each scene, the pupils took part in various fun activities to help them consolidate their understanding of the event in the trial.  These included a true/false maze and the best one of all ... a PlayDoh competition in which the children had to create different things such as a crown, donkey and a sword.

After one of the scenes, Peter, fantastically portrayed by Karl, was hot seated and after some questions from the ambassadors the students asked some of their own.  Throughout the activities, there was a points system which really got them engaged in the activities and play as they could earn points for their teams.

The climax of the event was the dramatic verdict scene, where Ollie played an intimidating Pontius Pilate, who wanted to set Jesus free.  The bold cries of ‘crucify’ (from the other RS ambassadors) resounded through the school hall, as Pilate ‘washed his hands’ of the situation and sentenced Jesus to death.  The session finished with a quiz led by Megan to help the year 5s cement what they had learnt.

Mr Churm said, "I'd like to thank the RS ambassadors who came along and did such a fantastic job planning, preparing and leading the session. I am very impressed with how they engaged the primary school children and ensured that they learnt lots and had great fun."
