GCSE results day was a cause for celebration at Carr Hill with many students achieving enviable grades allowing them to progress further with their studies.

Rachel Battison, Sam Royle, Jack Bilsborough, Madeleine Smith, Tansy Bailey and Niall Willey achieved outstanding results all averaging a Grade 8/A* and above.  Sam Royle was awarded two prestigious Grade 9s in Maths and English Literature, whilst a further six students were also awarded the sought after Grade 9.

Headteacher, Mr Waller, said, “The new reformed GCSE’s in English and Maths have presented some challenges, but I am delighted that students have embraced the new system and their hard work and dedication have paid off.”

As well as the students, individual departments were also celebrating successes with several achieving higher than average results.  Modern Foreign Languages (MFL) were streaks ahead of the national average gaining a 93% A* - C pass rate in French and a staggering 94% A*- C pass rate in Spanish.  Head of MFL, Mrs Beckett said, “I am incredibly proud of both the MFL staff and all our students for working extremely hard to achieve these grades”. Special mention also goes to the Art, Drama, History and PE departments as they too all exceeded the national averages.

We’d like to take this opportunity to wish all our students the very best for the next stage in their lives.
