Year 7 students, raised £2,000 for the charity 'Friends of the Hwange Trust' by selling postcards with their designs on. 137 students were involved in the fundraising activity and sold postcards with hand drawn zebras on.

Hwange National Park is Zimbabwe’s largest wildlife sanctuary with an enormous biodiversity of flora and fauna. It is home to countless animals, birds and other creatures and has one of the biggest populations of elephants in Africa. It also has at least 100 other animal species, over 400 bird species and more than 1,000 different plants and grasses as well as countless insects and other small creatures.

Carr Hill students have been raising money for the charity by designing postcards for a number of years and the initiative has always been well supported by the students’ families and friends who purchase the postcards to raise the money.

Friends of Hwange Trust Trustee David Dell said: “Thanks for your outstanding support for wildlife and we hope to see you in Zimbabwe soon."

Art teacher Miss Wignall said: “Every year the total we raise gets higher and this year is no exception. To raise £2,000 is a huge achievement and something Year 7 should be proud of.

"We'd like to thank every student involved but a special mention goes to Will in JU8, Jenna in CE1, Morgan in ME1, Ciaran in JU3, Jak in ME8, Daniel in PO4, Oliver in JU8, Freya in AP5 and James in MI7 as these students sold an exceptional number of postcards individually."
