Year 10 pupil Lauren has just received the news that she has gained a place with the Preston Youth Dance Company.

Lauren began dancing just four years ago after joining the school's Year 7 Dance Club. Over the years Lauren has honed her skills and now specialises in street and contemporary dance. In order to be offer a place in the company, Lauren was required to audition in front of the company directors and former members.

As a member of the company, Lauren will have the opportunity to travel around the country with the dance company and take part in local and regional festivals and other events.

Lauren, who will also become a member of the school's Sporting Elite Dance Academy in September, said: "I started dancing at school in Year 7 and have been part of the Gym and Dance Display every year. I have also been dancing with the Elite Dance Company for three years. I'm so excited to be a part of both the Preston Youth Dance Company and the Sporting Elite Dance Academy next year. I know that both organisations will give me the opportunity to reach a high standard of dance.

"I'm also looking forward to traveling to South Africa in 2017 as a member of the Carr Hill Dance Academy."

Dance Teacher, Miss O'Connor, said: "It’s nice when students who dance for the school are recognised by external organisations. I couldn't be more proud of Lauren's achievements. She will have the chance to develop her technique and individual style."
