A group of Carr Hill students put themselves forward for the Lytham St Annes Lions Club Annual Swimarathon Event. This is the fourth year students from the school have taken part and once again there were plenty of willing volunteers.

On Saturday 31st January the volunteers hit the pool to raise money for ‘CRY’ (Cardiac Risk in the Young). The sponsorship money they raised will support more cardiac screening days in Fylde in 2016 for young people. In addition to this, 20% of all the money raised by Carr Hill pupils goes back into the PE department to be spent on new PE equipment and resources.

PE teacher and Sports Partnership & Academies Officer, Mr Doughty, said: “All the Carr Hill pupils were superb on the day, showing true determination, endurance and teamwork! Our students have once again given up their free time and worked hard to raise money for charity. We really appreciate the students’ dedication and thank all those people who sponsored them.”

The number of laps completed by each team are listed below:

Team 1 - 90 laps

Team 2 - 73 laps

Team 3 - 73 Laps

Team 4 - 71 Laps

Participation in the swimarathon event will also results in an invitation to the PE department’s Sportsman’s Dinner which takes place in July 2016.
