Year 11 and Year 10, second year option students, have received the results of their Pre-Public Exams.

Pupils have once again shown that hard work pays off with impressive individual and group achievements across all subjects. Grades in core subjects such as Science and Maths were particularly impressive and in contrast to the summer results the top five achievers were all male students.

The purpose of the Pre-Public Exams is to give staff a clear indication as to where students are in terms of reaching their target grades ahead of the summer exams. The exams also allow students to experience real exam settings so they are more confident about what to expect prior to sitting their GCSEs.

Year 11 students and friends Luke and Owen were both named in the top five performers of their year. Luke achieved eight A*s, one B and one Dinstinction* whilst Owen gained an equally impressive six A*s, one A, two Bs and one Distinction*. Luke said: “I’m really happy as I was not expecting to do this well. I’m particularly pleased with the A* I gained in RE as I’ve gone up a couple of grades since last year.”

Owen was glad to gain As in all three Sciences as he felt those exams were the most challenging. He said: “I felt confident after most of my exams but I had no idea I would get the results that I have.”

Top performing girl and Year 11 student Amy came away with one A*, six As, two Bs and one Distinction*. Amy said: “These results have given me confidence ahead of the summer exams. I feel motivated to continue to work hard and hopefully gain even better results in my GCSEs.”

Headteacher Mr Waller said: “I would like to offer my congratulations to the Year 10 and Year 11 students. These grades are the result of hard work and commitment on the part of students, staff and parents. I hope that we can continue to work together over the coming months in the run up to the GCSE exams so that all pupils can achieve the results they deserve.”
