New Year 7 students have just returned from their first residential with Carr Hill High School, at Hothersall Lodge.

The students spent two days at the outdoor education centre in the Ribble Valley.  The students took part in  various outdoor activities such as canoeing, climbing, abseiling, caving and zip wiring. The pupils also took part in a study skills lesson and undertook exercises to help them make the most of high school.

Mrs Coulthard was one of the teachers to attend the trip. Miss Coulthard said: “The trip was a great success and the student feedback has been very positive. The trip offers students the chance to learn new skills and experience new things as well as develop friendships with fellow students whilst building team work skills.”

Year 7 Rhianna enjoyed her first residential trip with the school. She said: “I liked the canoeing activity as we had to work as a team and canoe around the whole lake. We were also allowed to jump in the lake at the end which was fun.

“I made a lot of new friends on the trip too and I feel like I know more people in my year now.”

Fellow year 7 Marcus had an equally enjoyable time. He said: “I decided to go on the trip because it was a good opportunity to try new things. I enjoyed the zip wire most of all because it was so high up and you travelled down so fast.

“I’m definitely going to go on the trip again next year and I know lots of other year 7 students who want to visit Hothersall Lodge again too.”
