Over 200 students came together to take part in a Zumbathon fundraiser organised by the Friends of Carr Hill High School.

Year 7 and 8 students packed out the school hall and danced to earn donations from friends and families. Dance teacher Miss O’Connor and the Dance Academy students took to the stage to run the activity, leading choreographed routines to all the students’ favourite songs.

Chair of Friends, Mrs Croasdale, said: “We held the Zumbathon fundraiser for the first time last year, it was so popular and students and staff really enjoyed it. I’m pleased to say that it was as successful again this year.”

Last year the event raised £500 for the Friends and it is likely a similar amount will be raised this time.

Mrs Croasdale said: “The Zumbathon is one of four fundraising events we host throughout the school year.  All the money we raise goes straight back to the school. Recently we have funded new lighting in the school hall and we also offer the school clusters the opportunity to bid for funding and try to support all the requests we receive.”

PE Teacher Mrs Carroll took her class to the Zumbathon. She said: “The students absolutely loved taking part and the hall was full of excited energy. I think it is great that all the students can come together to do something fun and raise money at the same time.”

Mrs Croasdale and the friends would like to thank all the students who took part and the families and friends who sponsored them. Another thank you also goes to Miss O’Connor and the Dance Academy students who take the time to put together dance routines and lead the Zumbathon on the day.
