In just five months the students who take part in the Junior Site Team club have made a big impact on a number of classrooms.

Every Friday between 15 and 25 students put on their overalls and set to work. The students, who are of all ages, have been busy painting walls, doors and radiators in a number of classrooms.

The work they have completed since February is making a huge difference to the look of many of the classrooms as they are now painted in bright purples and blues creating a vibrant background for new display boards.

The students, who give up their free time on a Friday afternoon once school has finished, take responsibility for their own areas of the rooms which need improvement under the supervision of staff.

Mrs Keaskin has been running the Junior Site Team club from the start. She said: “It has been a pleasure working with all the students as they are so passionate about getting involved and improving classrooms for themselves and their peers.

“There is a real sense of dedication amongst the students, they are proud of their school and want to ensure it looks as good as it possibly can.”

The Junior Site Team club will continue next year with plans already in place for more decorating and a number of classrooms lined up. The students will be able to get more involved in the decisions that are made and the areas of the school they would like to improve.

More details of the students’ progress will following next year.
