Despite a rainy day, Mrs Hunt and her catering team braved the weather and were cooking up a delicious feast reminding everyone that healthy summer food can also be super tasty!

The barbecue aroma drifted through the school, leaving students hungry for the barbecue feast on offer in the school cafeteria.

The superb spread prepared by our catering team included juicy burgers and sausages accompanied by an extensive salad bar and a wide range of tasty pastas.

Students enjoyed the tasty treats despite disappointing weather.

And for dessert students were able to blend their own fresh fruit smoothie on a specially designed smoothie bike, where pedal power resulted in a super-food taste sensation.

Handfuls of fruit and yoghurt were thrown into the blender and with the power of pedals, students made their very own fruity dessert.

Year 7 student, Harry Curwood said: “The barbecue was really nice and I really enjoyed cycling for my smoothie. Watching Mr Earnshaw on the bike was very entertaining.”

Headteacher, Mr Earnshaw thoroughly enjoyed the event.

He said: “The barbecue was a great success, showcasing the fantastic summer food produced by our catering team.”

The catering team work very hard to provide tasty and nutritional food for the students in the school. A three week rotational menu offers Great British favourites and a range of flavours from around the globe.

Students can enjoy a daily meal deal with a main meal and dessert/ drink. The team have recently introduced a cashless payment system meaning that getting your lunch in the school cafeteria is easier than ever. Parents can top up their child’s account via the school website or students can use the automated re-valuer in school.
