CHRISTMAS is getting closer and as we reach the end of the final week of term students and staff have been getting into the festive spirit.

All over school there have been activities going on to mark the Christmas holiday.

Students have been involved in their college assemblies to reflect on the past term, take part in some inter college Christmas themed competitions to win a variety of goodies and to remember the meaning of Christmas.

On Thursday students from Years 7 and 8 went down to St Michael’s church in Kirkham to take part in the annual carol service. The Carr Hill High School choir led the singing with the assistance of teachers Miss Murnan and Miss Jordinson. Reverend Rick Bundy led the service and students from each college carried out readings.

In the canteen the catering staff took on the mammoth task of cooking Christmas lunch for all students, and staff were served their Turkey in Sixth Form by the students surrounded by tinsel and whilst pulling crackers!

Last week saw the success of the Christmas Showcase organised by Mr Gally and Miss Murnan in which students from all years put on a fantastic concert to entertain friends, family and staff.

The hall was transformed into a winter wonderland and a variety of Christmas songs amongst other music was performed by the students at the two hour concert.

After a hugely successful and busy Autumn term we would like to wish all students, staff and parents a happy Christmas and look forward to seeing you all again in the new year.
