Ms Fry is so thrilled to have so many students who take part in her Creative Writing Club, now in it's second year, and still having amazing success. The students join like-minded friends, to work on their writing skills and expand on their work outside of English lessons. They learn new skills and enter their work into a range of competitions.

Ms Fry writes, "Congratulations to our Creative Writing Club. Students meet weekly and their fabulous poems have been published in Young Writers 'The Power of Poetry.' Students were particularly inspired by the National Poetry Day theme of 'The Environment.' They have also written poems about kind words and these poems have been on display.

Some students have also written short stories based on a number and these, too, are to be published by Young Writers in 'Integer - Stories Inspired by Numbers.'  Students had fun crafting stories with an unexpected twist.

Congratulations to our KS3 published students: Charlotte, Ashleigh, Charlotte, Elise, Fraya, Jacob, Megan, Lily and Isabel."

Ms Fry asked for these certificates to be handed out in Assembly, so the other students could appreciate their fellow students hard work. See a couple of the poems below about Kind Words and how we can use them effectively (written by Lily R and Jacob T).

The club runs at lunchtime for Year 7 and 8 students, on a Tuesday in Room 14. Come along to join in, be creative and have your voice heard. Well done to all who have taken part and the success you have had so far! Certificate celebration photos below -

World Book Day

At the beginning of March it was World Book Day and as a school we had a week of very interesting Assemblies and Activities. The English department held a range of events which encouraged all students to think about books, reading and how we can all enjoy and improve our skills.

A range of photos below show what students were able to enjoy -
