As National Apprenticeship Week draws towards it's final days, we're reflecting on everything we've seen and read over this last week.

On Monday we launched the campaign with the theme 'Build the Future' and that is what Apprentices are. They are the future employees, knowledge experts and the next generation of engineers, inventors, lab technicians, to name a few. The possibilities are endless, and we have looked at how apprenticeships can impact on local communities, businesses and regional economies.

This week we have celebrated Apprenticeships and how they -

  • TRAIN apprentices - and future proof their workforce and careers though apprenticeships
  • RETAIN apprentices - gaining the skills and knowledge needed by the business, and seeing apprentices thrive, whilst having impact
  • ACHIEVE a real return on investment from apprentices - realising the business benefits of apprenticeships, with apprentices progressing in their chosen careers

On Tuesday we had the Big Assembly and #AskAnEmployer, with details of local companies who have Apprenticeship vacancies now

On Wednesday we had #AskAnApprentice and more information about a former Carr Hill student who is a successful BAE Systems Apprentice.

Yesterday, we were reminded to thank those around us with Thank You Thursday.

As we end the week and look towards the weekend, the campaign will end on Valentine's Day with the slogan I Love Apprenticeships. We have to say a big thank you to all the Apprentices who have stepped up during the pandemic, to learn their trade and be part of a bigger team to make big changes. They have innovated and adapted, shown resilience and overcome obstacles. Click the image below to see a video -
