Social Media for Parents and Carers

       - Do's and Don'ts to keep your child or young person safe

More than ever children and young people are increasing their use of social media for school work, social life, fun and entertainment. It is important parents and carers ensure children and young people are using social media safely and not putting themselves at risk of inappropriate actions, online abuse, bullying or exploitation.

Karen Livesey explains, "I am a qualified teacher, youth worker and experienced trainer having worked as a Senior Youth worker and Advanced Practitioner for Lancashire Youth Service before becoming an independent trainer for C.A.T - child sexual exploitation awareness training. I am also an Associate trainer for National organisations Talking Life and Barnardo's."

Karen has created a video presentation aimed at parents and carers about social media including "do's and don'ts" to keep your child safe. The presentation includes practical tips, advice, resources and websites, as well as issues of concern with social media e.g. grooming and sexual exploitation.

This YouTube film aims to help parents and carers during Coronavirus lock down when social media is a significant part of the lives of children and young people.
