Students in Year 11 have been given the opportunity to take part in the National Citizen Service programme- a  voluntary personal and social development programme for 15–17 year olds funded largely by the government.

The programme is packed with opportunities to develop key skills whilst meeting new people and building confidence. There are also two five day residential trips included in the programme and students who book before the end of December will be able to take part in the programme for just £30 thanks to government funding.

The programme is highly regarded by employers and education establishments alike. The UCAS application form even has a tick box for those applying to state whether they have taken part or not.

The local NCS team recently visited Carr Hill and spoke to Year 11 about the programme and its benefits.  Year 11 Year Leader Mrs Beesley said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to Year 11 students and I would like to thank all those who have already signed up following the recent assembly we held. There is no doubt that this is a brilliant experience for students and I encourage Year 11 students to sign up for summer 2020. It would be a great way to spend some of your summer break- having fun, learning new things and adding to your cv at the same time.”
