Year 10 student Frankie has recently signed to play for Manchester City Girls Under 16’s team- one of the leading regional talent centres for football in the UK.

Frankie already plays for Lancashire and through this she was put forward to play for the North of England taking part in a training camp which has resulted in her being selected for the team. The North of England team will play The South of England team shortly to decide which team will be selected to represent the England Under 15’s in an international tournament.

Frankie, who has been playing football since she was nine, trains four evenings a week and plays a match every Saturday. Frankie will be travelling to Florida in December with her Manchester City team to play in an Under 15’s world tournament and will go abroad again in April where she will compete against both Barcelona and Real Madrid’s Under 16’s teams in Spain.

Frankie said: “I was really proud when I was signed for Manchester City. I want to be a professional footballer and playing for them is a big opportunity. I work hard and train for four evenings a week to keep improving.”

Headteacher Mr Waller said: “Frankie has achieved some fantastic things since she began playing football and they are the result of dedication, effort and talent. Well done Frankie and, on behalf of the school community, good luck for your upcoming matches and tournaments.”
