Over 253 top GCSE grades have been awarded to Year 11 students at Carr Hill High School as the number of 9- 7 Grades achieved by the students rises from last year to 20%. Students excelled at Science subjects with a 100% pass rate for Physics, 97%  for Biology and  96%  for Chemistry with 67% of students overall leaving with two good science qualifications and 60% leaving with both Maths and English. PE, Photography and Art had excellent results and of the 22 students who studied Further Maths over half achieved an A grade or higher. Students completing vocational courses gained some exceptional results with the pass rate for both Music and Dance at 100% and Performing Arts and Sport at 94%.

 

Headteacher Mr Waller said: “Congratulations to our Year 11 students who have worked hard for their results completing challenging courses and exams over the last two years to reach their goals. Today we mark their successes and it has been a pleasure to see so many of our students celebrating their accomplishments- the results of much focus and determination.

 

“There have been some very pleasing results across many of our subjects such as Science, Sport , PE, the Performing and Visual Arts and our students have excelled in vocational courses this year. Individually, our top three performing students achieved an incredible 24 Grade 9’s between them which is an outstanding accomplishment and something to be incredibly proud of as exams become tougher and those top grades become more and more challenging to reach.”  

 

Year 11 Twins Max and Jessica achieved eight Grade 9’s, seven Grade 8’s, three Grade 7’s, one Grade 6 and an A and A*. The twins have both been awarded a scholarship to study at Rossall School. The twins will take Maths, Physics and Further Maths at A Level with Jess also taking Art and Max taking History. Max said: “We have helped and encouraged each other throughout the last two years. Sometimes there have been subjects that I have found easier than Jess and the other way around and we’ve worked together. We are proud of each other’s results.”     

 

Year 11 Nathan, achieved 10 Grade 9’s, one Grade 8 and one A^. Nathan said: “I’m feeling good about my results. I did a lot of revision and put in a lot of hard work and it’s paid off. I’m looking forward to starting college next month where I’ll be studying Maths, Further Maths, Economics and History.”

 

Year 11 Danielle achieved eight Grade 9’s, one Grade 8, one Grade 7 and one A^. Danielle said: “I felt nervous this morning and I’m so happy and relieved now it’s all done. My teachers were amazing during the exams and helped top keep me calm so many times.”
