29 students have spent three days in London taking part in a walking theatre tour as part of their drama and dance courses.

Students from Year 8- Year 13 had the opportunity to watch two musicals: Everybody’s Talking about Jamie and Matilda before take part in Dance and Drama workshops in Pineapple Dance Studios with West End actors based on the musicals they had just seen.  Dancers learned the choreography for Revolting Children from Matilda and actors explored a bullying scene from Everybody’s Talking about Jamie.

In addition to this students had the opportunity to enjoy a river boat cruise along the Thames from Westminster to Tower Hill, before taking in a sightseeing tour which included the Houses of Parliament, 10 Downing Street, Buckingham Palace, London Eye and more. There was also time for a little shopping in Covent Garden.

Dance teacher Miss O’Connor said: “The trip was a huge success. The students gained so much from watching the musicals and then taking part in the workshops that followed. Both experiences provided a valuable insight in to the performing arts world with students able to take away learnings which they can apply to future studies. The trip also gave students the opportunity to see more of London and what the life and culture is like there. If our students choose to pursue a career in performing arts there is every chance they may end up living in the capital in the future. “
