Year 11 Alice is now a member of the British Senior Squad and the English Performance Squad for gymnastics following the completion of a series of challenging trials.

Alice is one of just six senior gymnasts from across the UK to have been selected for English Performance Squad. Being a part of this squad means that Alice is likely to be selected for international competitions. Just a few of Alice’s career highlights so far include being ranked number one in the junior squad for Great Britain, achieving a bronze medal at the 2017 British Championships and Silver and Bronze at the 2017 English Championships. In order to reach the level she is at now Alice has to train for between 25- 30 hours a week and regularly attend residential training camps in various locations across the UK.

Headteacher Mr Waller said: “The school has been following Alice’s journey since she joined Carr Hill in 2014. In 2015, when Alice was in Year 7, we reported on her qualifying for the British Gymnastics Championships and due to sheer drive and dedication Alice has continued to achieve and we can now congratulate her on her place in both the British Senior Squad and the English Performance Squad. Well done, Alice”
