A week of events to mark World Book Day culminated on Friday with our very own pop up style café.

Students were invited to ‘Starbooks’ café to enjoy a warm drink and snacks whilst getting stuck into a good book.  The pop up was a roaring success with students queuing down the corridor outside Room 19 for a hot chocolate and cupcake.

Faculty Leader for English Mrs McDonough said, “This was a wonderful way to round off a week of fabulous events to mark World Book Day. We’ve been able to run all sorts of activities throughout the week with the intention of inspiring students to develop a love for reading.  Personally I have really enjoyed the activities, especially being huddled up under a blanket and wearing my unicorn slippers whilst listening to students’ book reviews and recommendations!”

In addition to ‘Starbooks’ and the World Book Day Reviews and Recommendations, students also had the opportunity to turn their favourite story into a  film by choosing actors, designing sets and creating storyboards.  There was also a writing workshop and book quiz.
