National Poetry Day 2017

National Poetry Day is an annual celebration run by the charity Forward Arts Foundation, that inspires people throughout the UK to enjoy, discover and share poems.

The theme this year was Freedom and students enjoyed various lessons involving looking at poems based around the theme as well as writing their own to be displayed on a 'Poetree' in The Hub. Sixth Form drama students recited Shakespeares Sonnets and the Art, Photography and English departments collaborated to run a competition to inspire students to write a poem, take a photo or draw a picture portraying what freedom means to them.
