The sun shone and the excitement mounted yesterday as 7 local schools arrived at Carr Hill for a day of track and field events. The competition was rife as pupils from Newton Bluecoats, Ribby, Strike Lane, Kirkham & Wesham, St Michaels, Wesham CofE and St Joseph’s primary schools did their best to ensure they took home the Champions Trophy.

From sprints to egg and spoon races and standing triple jumps there was an event for everyone.  The day was organised by the PE department, but would not have been possible without the help of our students who made up the fifty two Sports Leaders and numerous other tech and set up crew which enabled the day to run without a glitch.

PE Teacher Mr Penney said "The day was a roaring success.  It was great to see so many younger students enjoying a bit of friendly competition and I was astounded by the level of the competition, they were a credit to their schools".

Mr Doughty added, "It is fantastic to be able to host this event and once again we're grateful to our students who acted responsibly throughout the day ensuring it ran smoothly and was enjoyable for all involved".

At the end of the day it was Newton Bluecoats who took first place for the large schools competition with St Michael's taking the title of champions for the Small School competition.
