Year 13 students had a glimpse into the world of politics this week when a local MP visited the sixth form to share some tips and advice for our budding politicians.

Students, who are studying for their Government and Politics A-Level, had the opportunity to find out more about what a career in politics is all about. They were also given tips and advice about studying for their upcoming A-Level exam.

Politics teacher Miss Clarke said: “Here at Carr Hill we value the importance of giving students opportunities to meet people working in the industries related to their courses. Meeting an MP gave students an insight into the day to day realities of a career in politics”.

Local MP Mark Menzies visited the sixth form to participate in a question and answer session with the politics students. When asked about how to become a politician he advised them to, “be prepared for setbacks.  Becoming an MP may seem impossible of on the face of it, but with hard work and determination there are means to get there”.
