Students who completed their studies at Carr Hill Sixth Form Centre in June 2015 were welcomed back this week as part of the school’s annual Achievement Awards.

Former pupils, who have now started degree courses at a range of Russell Group universities, were joined by old classmates who have begun apprenticeships with top employers, such as BAE, whilst others from the cohort have started full time work having successfully gained the required qualifications whilst studying at Carr Hill Sixth Form Centre.

For these students the evening was not only an opportunity to collect exam certificates but also to catch up with teachers and friends before the formal event began. The former pupils were also joined by the sixth form’s current Year 13s who were at the event to be presented with exam certificates from their first year of study. In addition to the presentation of certificates, a number of students were also recognised for individual subject achievements, their high exam point scores and their contribution to the sixth form community.

Assistant Headteacher- Post 16, Mr Napier, said: “It was a pleasure to see so many of our former students back for this event. Catching up with individuals and finding out where the qualifications they gained whilst studying with us has taken them was fantastic. Our former students are making great progress in their chosen next steps and they are certainly a fantastic example to our current students.

“The event itself enables us to mark the achievements of so many of our sixth form students and gives us the opportunity to thank them for their contribution to school life. We also recognise the accomplishments of our current Year 13 students as they prepare for their final two terms with many of them having been a part of the school community since they were in Year 7.

“I would like to thank all the students, parents, carers, family, friends and staff who attended the event and congratulate each one of our students on their successes.”
