GCSE and A-Level Art and Photography students recently spent the day at Grizedale Forest. Whilst at the inspirational location pupils had the chance to work with artists, illustrators and designers.

Students were also given the opportunity to work with artist Carne Griffith and had the chance to try out Derwent Graffik’s innovative new range of pens before their official launch. Each of the 46 students’ individual contributions on the day will become part of a whole temporary artwork to be sited near the visitor centre at the Forest.

Art teacher, Mrs Wild, said: “Art department had the privilege of taking Year 9/10/12 students to Grizedale Forest. They worked with an amazing artist called Carne Griffiths in the most stunning classroom you can imagine.”

Together they collaborated towards a large piece of artwork that will now be displayed in Grizedale Forest. The students were an absolute credit to the school and a joy to spend the day with. It was both a fun and beneficial trip for all involved.”

Year 10 Lauren was one of the students who went on the trip. Lauren said: “I decided to go on the trip as it sounded like a good opportunity to get outside and learn in a creative environment.”

I really enjoyed using the new pens as they help you create special techniques like blending. Mrs Wild took the pens back to school and I’m looking forward to using them again next year when I start my year 11 coursework.”
