Three Year 12 students are hoping to lead Carr Hill to a golfing victory. Pupils Bradley, Sam and Kieran are currently competing in the 3rd round of the Lancashire Schools Knockout competition, having already defeated two neighbouring schools in the 1st and 2nd rounds.

The trio, who have over a decade of golfing experience between them, face Rossall School at Fleetwood Golf Club next. There are 16 schools competing in the Lancashire section of the competition and the boys need to beat Rossall and one final school from the region to earn Carr Hill’s place at the national finals.

Bradley said: “We all really enjoy playing golf. We have been representing Carr Hill for a number of years and like to compete against other schools.”

During every round the boys each play against a player from the other school, Carr Hill must beat at least two of the other school’s players to move onto the next round. Each meeting takes around three hours and the students play on an 18 hole course.

Sam said: “Although we each play individually we work as a team. The two who aren’t playing will encourage and motivate the one who is playing.”

If successful at Rossall School the boys, who all play at Ashton Golf Club, will face the best school teams in the country at Woodhall Spa. The venue is home to a top five UK golf course.

Kieran said: “We would all love the opportunity to play at Woodhall Spa. The course is amazing and we would be proud to represent Carr Hill against the best schools in the country.”

If the students fair well at Woodhall Spa they will be sent the Europe to represent the UK against other schools from across the continent.
