Carr Hill High School & Sixth Form Centre is a popular and expanding mixed comprehensive school for 11 to 18 year olds with approximately 1,200 students on roll. We have been serving the community of Kirkham and the surrounding area since 1957. We are one of the few schools in Lancashire with a Sixth Form, which continues to flourish and expand. Our exam results at GCSE and A Level consistently place us in the top 25% of all schools in England and Wales, and continue to improve. We benefit from a committed Governing Body, a dedicated team of staff and supportive parents.

School History
Before becoming Carr Hill High School and Sixth Form Center it is believed land around the site was originally the home of a Roman Fort around 70AD.Almost 2,000 years later – in 1934 – land adjacent to Carr Hill became the Carr Hill Race Course. The racecourse was built by Edward Sergeant in the grounds of the Carr Hill Hotel – on land directly opposite the Windmill. However the course closed in 1938 when Lancashire County Council acquired land between the road and the race course.
Twenty years later in 1958 Kirkham welcomed royalty when Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Kent officially opened Carr Hill County Secondary School.There was much pomp and circumstance as the Duchess was formally welcomed and then given the opportunity to inspect the new modern buildings.
In its infancy Carr Hill accommodated 450 students in a total of 19 classrooms, including one science lab, a metalwork and a woodwork room – today there are approximately 1300 students in 50 classrooms, 10 science labs, a multitude of sports facilities including netball courts, an athletics track and a sports dome, dedicated technology and art blocks and an impressive Learning Resource Centre.
