What a fantastic start to the sporting calendar we had this week, when our Year 10 Netball team travelled to Fleetwood to play in a tournament against other local schools. They competed in four matches and finished Third in their group.
They won their matches against Fleetwood and St Bedes, what a great result! As a newly formed group, with very little practice time, this result is fantastic.
The fixtures were as follows –
- Carr Hill v Fleetwood – Win 5-2
- Carr Hill v LSA – Loss 7-2
- Carr Hill v Garstang – Win 7-4
- Carr Hill v St Bedes – Win 9-3
Mrs Carroll accompanied the team and says, “The team played amazing and improved every single game. Some of the students had never played in a netball tournament before so this was a great result for Carr Hill. I was very proud of everyone who played in the tournament. A shout-out to the MVP (Most Valuable Player) Georgia for her versatility on the court and her leadership. A fantastic afternoon. Well done everyone!”
Georgia (shown below) was extremely proud to be given the title of MVP. She said the tournament was a great experience and she really enjoyed herself.
“The team had not really played together before, but with the new players we were invigorated and they gave us great energy and enthusiasm. The temperature was surprisingly high that day, and we were truly exhausted at the end of our 4 matches. We’re still really pleased with the result and how well we did as a team.”
