Sports Day is one of the highlights of our Summer term, with many students competing in the races and trying to win points for their mentor group. The field events had to be postponed due to terrible weather, and unfortunately weren't able to be photographed. The track events day went ahead, and was a thoroughly enjoyable day for all.

Students took turns to race, going through the year groups, and it was a fantastic supportive atmosphere with many students cheering on from the side lines. They all took turns having a go at the various challenges, football/tyres and the giant inflatable obstacle course. It was a real joy to see the excitement and enthusiasm, with many racing against each other to the end.

All students attended for the day in their PE kit, and waited patiently for their turn to race. The events included one student from each mentor group, and this made the races extremely competitive. Long distance races first, with sprint races following, then hurdles and the relay race. A game of 'tug-o-war' completed the events.

Sports Day is a fun way to celebrate everything that has been taught in PE lessons, and for students to have a try at events that they wouldn't usually do. Thank you to all the staff who had a part in organising or running the event, and well done to everyone who took part and tried their hardest. We also said a fond farewell to Mrs Beesley, who has been a major part of the PE teaching team over the years, we wish her lots of luck in her new position at another school.
