Last Wednesday was Year 11's final day in school, which concluded with a day-long celebration of their 5 year journey with Carr Hill. This started with a Leavers' Assembly, video of memories and group photo, followed by Leavers' Breakfast and shirt signing.

Year 11 joined Mr Waller, and Head of Year Miss Clancy, along with mentor staff members in the hall for their final assembly. Mr Waller started things off, with a message of 'be kind to others', and an extra special well done to this year group, who have been extremely well behaved throughout the exam period. Miss Clancy gave a few words of wisdom, including how much she will miss the students, and all the best for the future. The students then enjoyed a video of some photos from Primary school visits, Year 7 Bushcraft school trip, dance groups, Year 7 Sports Day and the Sports Dinner from the same year. These memories caused much laughter on occasion, and some gasps of shock and surprise, as the students remembered. Mentor teachers had also sent over some memories and messages of Good Luck, especially to those students who had the same Mentor teacher from Year 7 right the way through to the end of school. There was a really lovely atmosphere in school as the students shared their memories and could relax after their efforts of revision and exams.

We braved the weather to take a full year group photo on the yard, a memento of which will be provided on Results Day.

The students were then welcomed into the canteen, where they shared something to eat and drink with their fellow students for the final time in school. This time together gave students the chance to sign each others shirts, or leavers' book, writing messages of good luck or memories to remember their journey together. Teachers from a range of subjects were on hand to sign shirts with messages of support and best wishes. Some of the shirts were beautifully embellished and will be treasured keepsakes. Many students brought gifts for the teachers, to say thank you for their support. Students also collected their Class of 23 hoodies and made sure to sign the shirt for Sean's family, a keepsake to remember Sean, who sadly passed away during Year 10. Sean, and his family, were very much in our thoughts, and his sister enjoyed being a part of this leavers' tradition.

Prom

In the evening, the Prom took place at The Villa in Wrea Green. The event gave students chance to celebrate in style, everyone looked amazing in their chosen outfits and arrived in a wide range of vehicles, including vintage cars, Harley Davidson motorbikes, Aston Martin's and other extremely impressive sports cars, to name a few. Blake even drove himself to Prom in his tractor! A time to relax and take photos before a three-course meal, which looked delicious. Then it was time for the party to start, with the DJ taking requests all night and the dance floor packed.

Mr Waller writes "We had one of the most enjoyable Proms I can remember, with so many dancing the night away and looking so grown up."

We wish every member of the 'Class of 23' all the very best for the future and thank you to all the Year 11 students who put their all into school life. The Carr Hill community wishes you all the best and keep in touch! We look forward to seeing you all on Results Day in August.
