Head’s Message

I am very happy to welcome you to Carr Hill’s website and hope you find a rich source of information here about our thriving school community.

Carr Hill is a large school of around 1200 students serving the Kirkham area. Our students come from a wide variety of primary schools in to year 7 and we are a very popular choice for families both local and slightly further afield. We are very proud to have a Sixth Form Centre with around 200 students and offer a good range of vocational and academic courses post 16.

Recently the school engaged in a process of revising its mission statement and at the heart of that short statement are two ideas: we are proud to belong to the Carr Hill Community and we pursue excellence in everything through commitment, aspiration, resilience and respect.

The sense of community and pride in the school are clear as you walk around and we all pursue excellence because we have are proud of what we stand for. No matter what a person’s role in the school – teaching or support staff – all are working very hard to allow every one of our young people to pursue excellence in all that they do; to be committed to being the best they can be; to look for solutions to problems and learn from mistakes rather than giving up; and to develop a deep sense of respect for themselves, others and the school environment.

A school exists for its students – to give them an education that will help prepare them for adult life in the modern world; to encourage a thirst for knowledge that will hopefully continue beyond compulsory schooling; to help develop an understanding of justice, of right and wrong and those values which help create a decent society; and to provide an environment in which their talents and abilities can thrive.

I hope you will see evidence of all this as you look through the website and please feel welcome to come and see Carr Hill in action.
